Led by the Chief Executive, Claire Severgnini, the Executive Team is comprised of six senior managers who are all based at the Charity’s headquarters in Camerton, Somerset. The team is supported by the Head of Corporate Governance, Juliette Morgan on matters of regulation and compliance. Together they look after the day to day operations of the Charity.
Listed below are members of the charity’s executive team.
Claire Severgnini, Chief Executive
Mrs Claire Severgnini is Chief Executive of the National Osteoporosis Society and joined the charity in 2006.
Claire has a wealth of experience working in health services and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Her career has spanned both Local Government and the NHS. Claire’s early career was in Human Resource Management and her career transitioned into General Management when she joined the NHS Direct Implementation Team for England and Wales. Claire held the post of Director of Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Direct for five years, before being appointed as the Chief Executive of Hampshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust in 2003.
Whilst at the National Osteoporosis Society, Claire has led the formulation and delivery of a new strategy which sets out 2 Aims:
- Aim 1: Every person aged over 50 who breaks a bone is assessed for osteoporosis and managed appropriately.
- Aim 2: People with osteoporosis are empowered to make choices and manage their condition in ways that best meet their own needs.
This clear focus has seen the charity enhance the support it gives to patients, raise the profile of Osteoporosis and fragility fractures and successfully secure advances in the recognition and development of the provision of health and social care services for osteoporosis and fragility fractures.
Fizz Thompson, Clinical Director
Fizz currently has responsibility for the delivery of all of the clinical services for the charity, covering our work across the four counties of the UK. Fizz trained as a nurse and previously worked for the NHS for over 30 years, in operational nursing, managerial roles and for 10 years as an Executive Director, focusing on Patient Care, Quality, Governance and Patient Safety.
Kate Groves, Fundraising & Communications Director
Kate joined the charity in May 2015 as fundraising and communications director and her teams are responsible for telling our story in a way that people truly understand the difficulties faced by those living with osteoporosis and are encouraged to help fund the charity’s work.
Susan Hamilton, Strategic Development Director
Susan has a background in public health and has over 16 years working at a senior level in the NHS, Local Authorities and academia. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and worked as a Consultant in Public Health for five years prior to taking up her post. Susan has particular experience in the use of evidence and research to inform the development of health services.
Helen Kingman, Human Resources Director
Helen joined the charity in June 1989 as the PA to the founding Director and has undertaken various roles within the charity, witnessing the charity grow from strength to strength. Helen is the Human Resources Director, her main responsibility being the Charity’s Human Resource Framework which includes Leadership and Management Development, Talent Management, Succession Planning, and Health & Wellbeing.
Hilary Arden, Service Delivery Director
Joining the National Osteoporosis Society in 2008, Hilary was initially responsible for the development and delivery of training and continuing professional development for health professionals as well as overseeing the Osteoporosis Conference. More recently she took on the role of Head of Service Delivery, responsible for the development and delivery of equitable fracture liaison service (FLS) and osteoporosis service provision across the UK. As Service Delivery Director, Hilary is now responsible for leading the management and functions of the Service Delivery Directorate. This includes the FLS work programme, the delivery of services and educational resources for health professionals, as well as the support provided for people with or at risk of osteoporosis.
Sue Perrott, Finance Director
Sue joined the charity in 2017 as Finance Director and leads the charity’s finance team in ensuring that professional financial support and advice is provided to the other members of the Executive Team, Trustees and Staff. Sue is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and trained in London with one of the top four accountancy firms. Sue has extensive financial experience within a range of different industries including large PLCs, training companies, manufacturing companies and charities.
