Osteoporosis Resources for Primary Care

About Osteoporosis Resources for Primary Care

This osteoporosis resource is a joint initiative of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the National Osteoporosis Society. Its aim is to equip GPs, Practice Nurses and other members of the practice team with relevant information about osteoporosis to support you in the identification, assessment and management of osteoporosis in primary care.

How to use this resource:

You can work through the sections in order or go directly to a section of particular interest. Click on the section headings below and select the session you wish to view.

The Introduction, Identification, Investigation, Initiation and Information sections will guide you through developing an understanding of osteoporosis, its diagnosis and management.

The Frameworks & Guidance section provides links to guidance - including NICE, SIGN and NOGG - to give you an appreciation of the wider context of osteoporosis treatment.

The Practice Nurses section has been developed specifically for Practice Nurses and provides information on the role of the Practice Nurse in osteoporosis care.
