Love your Bones tour 2018

Stop breaking bones! - Two week bus tour to New Hampshire Show offers the chance to check for poor bone health and osteoporosis

People in Hampshire will be given a chance to check if they are at risk of the bone disease osteoporosis this July when a team from Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and the National Osteoporosis Society hit the road for a two week bus tour from the Queen Alexandra Hospital to the New Hampshire Show.

Over 720,000 people in the wider Hampshire area are at risk of osteoporosis and it is estimated that the condition could cause up to 16,000 fractures a year in the region at a cost to local health services of £58m.

Osteoporosis causes bones to lose their strength and make them more likely to break, usually following a minor bump or fall.

The Love Your Bones tour starts on Monday 16th July and will be calling at locations throughout Hampshire to give local people an opportunity to take a quick online test and find out if they are at risk of osteoporosis.

The tour - which culminates with a three day visit to the New Forest Show - will also give people the chance to meet members of the Osteoporosis and Bone Health Team from Queen Alexandra Hospital, ask questions and pick up some essential tips about how to keep their bones healthy and avoid painful and debilitating fractures.

The tour will then call at:
