5 reasons we can’t wait for the Sing! Christmas concert
01 Nov 2017
With just a month to go until Sing! – our annual Christmas concert – the National Osteoporosis Society is buzzing with excitement. Here are 5 reasons why we just can’t wait for the big event in Bath, on December 1st…
1. Miriam Margolyes is ho-ho-hosting!
We are so proud to be welcoming the much-loved and award-winning actress Miriam Margolyes as our host for the evening. Star of films The Age of Innocence and Harry Potter, Miriam became an Ambassador for the National Osteoporosis Society in 2016 and has worked tirelessly to support our work helping people affected by osteoporosis ever since.
We can’t wait for Miriam - who is affected by the condition herself - to share her personal insights about living with osteoporosis, hopefully with a festive sprinkling of her well-known, honest humour.
2. The warm, fuzzy feeling you get from helping others
Christmas is a time for coming together and thinking about others. Sing! truly captures this spirit by bringing together supporters and the local community through joyful music and song, with all proceeds from the festive evening helping to support those whose lives have been irreversibly affected by osteoporosis.
3. A fantastically festive sing-a-long
Now in its seventh year, Sing! always offers a joyful selection of music and song; the perfect way to start the festive season!
This year, the evening features performances from the Norland College Choir, the Bath Chorus and the Children of Widcombe Primary School, all brought together by renowned choirmaster Grenville Jones. Listen out in the programme for the Charity’s in-house choir – NOS Voices – as they make their debut performance!
4. Visit the magical Christmas markets in Bath
With Bath’s award-winning Christmas market sitting practically on the doorstep of St John’s Evangelist Church, we can’t wait to soak up the sights, smells and festive ambience of the markets before making our way to the Christmas concert – the perfect festive evening!
Tip – Don’t miss a special preview performance from NOS Voices, who will be spreading the festive cheer and collecting donations on Bath Street at 5.30pm.
5. Christmas nibbles
Every self-respecting Christmas concert needs some delicious festive fare, so, to keep energy levels and voice volumes up, there will be a plentiful supply of mince pies available on the night. We can’t wait to get those shortcrust crumbs down our Christmas jumpers!
