Miriam Margolyes to host annual Sing! Christmas concert
10 Oct 2017
Award-winning actress, advocate for older people and all-round national treasure Miriam Margolyes is helping the National Osteoporosis Society raise awareness and funding for people affected by osteoporosis by hosting our annual Christmas concert, ‘Sing!’.
Miriam, who became an Ambassador for the Charity in 2016, will be joined by students from Bath’s Norland College Choir, the Bath Chorus and the Children of Widcombe Primary School, all brought together by renowned choirmaster Grenville Jones. Guests will also enjoy an inaugural performance from the National Osteoporosis Society staff choir, NOS Voices, led by Ruth McKibbin.
Miriam Margolyes said: “As someone living with osteoporosis on a day-to-day basis, I know only too well about the consequences of the condition. I’m very conscious that I could break a bone if I fall. I think that’s one of the things that happens to you as you get older – you feel more fragile and I hate that.”
The National Osteoporosis Society is at the very heart of addressing the wide ranging personal and social issues created by osteoporosis. Events like this are an important way of raising much needed funding to carry out its vital work and I’m really looking forward to taking part.”
The annual Sing! event – now in its seventh year - brings together supporters and the local community to celebrate the Charity’s life-changing work while enjoying an evening of festive music and song.
Jo Ferris, Head of Fundraising at the National Osteoporosis Society, said: “It’s fantastic to see Sing! return to Bath once more, and we’re proud to welcome Miriam, the choirs and visitors alike to the evening. It promises to be the perfect way to start the festive season.”
